Aromatherapy is a powerful tool, and having the ability to take it anywhere with you is a blessing. When you first start using essential oils, you may be diluting them and rubbing them on your skin. After all, this way is fast, easy and convenient. However, the use of diffusing jewelry will not only provide you with the benefits of your chosen essential oils, but you can also do so in style. And since each drop is valuable, using items such as lava stone or small cotton pads, will allow for your essential oils to last much longer with no sacrifice to their benefits.

Now you might be questioning what the major differences are between topical application and the use of jewelry, so we have gone ahead and done a little research for you. Turns out, one of the biggest downfalls with topical use of essential oils is that the smell will often not last very long as they have a tendency to dry down super fast. This makes for a higher frequency of reapplication and a faster use of your essential oils.

This is where items such as lava stone and cotton pads come in to play. These items don’t absorb the oils the same way our skin does. The molecular size of an essential oils active compound is actually uniquely small and therefore can more easily pass through the dermal layers of the skin. This allows for a direct path into the bloodstream, the ability to cross the blood-brain barrier, and have a fast and effective absorption into the cell membrane.

In layman’s terms, topical use has the fastest absorption rate. However, with the use of jewelry, your scents will stick around for at least a few hours, and the absorption rate will slow down immensely. A few of the longer-lasting scents can even longer for days.

Achieve Personal Aromatherapy Daily

If you are one of the many people that work or live in a high-stress environment or surrounded by people that make you want to pull your hair out at times, it can be hard to find time to relax. However, when you wear essential oil jewelry every day it lets you enjoy the natural benefits of aromatherapy wherever you may be. Whether it is on the road, at work, or in your home. When you find an oil that works for you, such as lavender for stress, sweet orange for anxiety or cedarwood to relax, the benefit of being able to have it in any environment is paralleled by none.

Types of Jewelry

There are 3 ways you can wear your essential oils as jewelry; necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Most often you will find that the necklaces are made to be lockets which hold cotton pads inside them. However, with essential oils growing in popularity, you can now find alternative forms such as small viles or circle lockets that contain lava stone.

The other two main pieces of jewelry we find in the essential oil market are bracelets and earrings. While there is a portion of that market that does use a small locket and cotton pads, you will find that most companies use absorbent lava stone for diffusing jewelry.

Lava stone has a grounding and centering effect on its own, making it a double whammy when used with essential oils. Lave, after all, does come from a natural process from mother earth. IT is a stone of protection, grounding, strength, and fertility. It said to help dissipate anger and provide guidance and understanding. And not to mention, each one completely unique, just like you.

Some of the bracelet styles will feature larger and multiple stones. These can hold more oils, thus having a potentially stronger and longer-lasting aroma, however, this will still vary from stone to stone and the essential oils you use. Some of the longer lasting invigorating aromas would be a citrus or peppermint oil. All it takes is a dab to enjoy the beautiful scent. And unlike department store perfumes, which are diluted in alcohol, your essential oils are all natural.

How to Apply Your Essential Oils

To apply your essential oils you can dap it right on to the lava bead. Alternatively you can use a q-tip or your finger, however, a portion of your essential oil could then be lost. If you find you have extra or accidentally applied too much oil, you gently wipe your beads with a dry finger, applying it to your wrist or behind your ears. Or you can use a dry cloth and let the oils to soak in for a few minutes.

As a rule of thumb, the longer you allow the oils to absorb, the longer your scent can last. Keep in mind that the beads will absorb the oils fairly quickly, however they may appear wet. Lava beads, unlike their cotton counterpart, will not absorb oils instantly. Using lava you will get the unique luxury of using a part of nature in a versatile way.

How To Care For Jewelry

Only apply essential oils to the lava beads. If you happen to get any on the chain or clasp, use a dry cloth to gently wipe it clean. To keep your jewelry as new, avoid wearing your jewelry while showering, sleeping, swimming, and exercising. And since your lava beads and essential oils are natural you will want to minimize exposure to any chemicals, such as lotions or hair products. We also recommend storing your jewelry in a dry environment to avoid oxidation.

The Added Benefit of Choice

When you purchase a perfume you have made a fairly big commitment, as they are expensive and you don’t want to buy a huge variety. However, with essential oils, you can switch up your scent to match your mood or your needs for that day. Imagine an improved state of emotional and physical wellness, inspired by your own personal everyday moments. You will find that you will receive benefits which are cosmetic, spiritual, and emotional when you integrate essential oils and essential oil jewelry into your daily routines.
